This term, we have been doing Outdoor and Adventure in PE, which has included lots of work on teamwork and problem solving skills. In this lesson, the children performed a carousel of physical activities, involving many different skills. They had to collaborate to finish the activities together as a team. Each activity involved different physical skills such as throwing, catching, skipping, balancing etc. and the children had to finish the activities not as an individual but as a team.
The children learned the importance of helping each other if a physical exercise was particularly challenging and we all learned the importance of encouraging each other. Only once all team members had completed the activity was the activity completed for the whole team. We weren’t in competition with any other teams, our objective was to help each other to complete the activity as quickly as we could.
