This week in Year 1 we began reading the story Owl Babies by Martin Waddel. It is the story of three baby owls, Sarah, Percy and Bill, who wake up one night in their hole in a tree to find that their mother has gone! They sit and wait on a branch, feeling scared and anxious, wondering where their mother is and if she will return.
In class we talked about a time when we felt lost or scared and we also wrote predictions (a clever guess) about what might happen next in the story.
In the end, mother owl does return to her happy baby owls and all is well.
We talked about characters from other stories we knew. We all chose a favourite character from Owl Babies and wrote why they were our favourite. We then made our own owl baby!
