This half term for PE, we have been learning all about the sport of rounders! This is a fast paced sport which involves throwing, catching and batting!
In our lesson this week, we started off with a warm up to get our bodies ready by moving around the area in pairs. We had the challenge of moving in as many different ways as we could think of such as jogging, skipping, hopping and sideways movements.
We then moved into our throwing and catching warm up in which we worked with our partners on our underarm throwing. This was important because you have to bowl underarm in rounders so it was good to practice. We even had the challenge of trying to see how many claps we could do before we caught the ball thrown by our partners. Some of us managed an impressive 8 claps and one handed catches.
Then we got to play in the best part-the rounders game. We split into 2 teams-one batting and one fielding. The batters job was to hit the ball and run around the square to try and score a rounder before the fielders got the ball back to the bowler. After everyone had two bats, we swapped teams so everyone got a go at both batting and fielding.
There was lots of great batting and fielding on display!
