Our new topic in class is… ‘People Who Help Us!’
During this topic we will learn all about the people who help us in our community and the important jobs they do. We will find out about the police, fire fighters, doctors, nurses, vets, lifeguards, cleaners, builders and more!
To launch our topic this week, we talked about the role-play areas we could set up and decided together on a vets surgery in class. We talked about the important roles vets have and how they look after animals. We have been enjoying exploring our vet role play area in class!
We also set up a hospital in our outdoor area. We talked about the name of the people who drive an ambulance and help people – these are called paramedics.
We played a getting to know the people who help us game together where we had to guess which person was hiding behind the boxes. We had to think carefully about the uniform and the colours they wear to help us guess! We then chose which job role we would like to do and made our own picture of someone who helps us. We used oil pastels to colour the uniform correctly, making sure we chose the correct colours. We then shared some information about what important jobs they have to do!
We are very excited to find out more about people who help us and meet some people who help us soon to find out about their jobs!
I like all the people who help us. I want to learn what the policemen and the policewomen do and what the dentist does. What do they have to do?
This topic looks very interesting and you all look very excited to learn. Well done reception!
It was lovely playing in the vet corner, as we helped the hurt animals. I’m enjoying learning about people who help us like the fire fighters, police, paramedics, cleaners, teachers and postmen. ❤️🦄🚒👩🏽🚒 👮🏽
