We have been working hard with our Phonics in Reception this week!
We are currently revisiting and consolidating all phase 3 sounds to make sure we are confident with reading and writing these.
This week we revisited ‘ar, air, igh and er.’ We practised reading many words containing these sounds and then applied our phonic knowledge by sounding out and spelling words containing these sounds.
We know that a digraph has two letters one sound.
We know that a trigraph has three letters one sound.
We have also built on our sentence work this week. We know that a sentence is a group of words that tell us something. We practised writing sentences, making sure we remembered finger spaces!
We also revisited some of our tricky words ‘the, go, she, put, pull, was, has, his and her.’ We practised reading these and spelling them correctly.
Well done Reception, you are working so hard!
I am studying the phonics at home with my mum and I know that ar is a digraph which has two letters one sound and a trigraph has three letters one sound like igh. Now I am practising writing it.
