As we begin our new topic of Historical Heroes, we have looked at a new artistic style. We have studied the work of Andy Warhol, in particular, the style of Pop Art. We know that this phrase comes from the word popular. We have seen that way in which Andy Warhol used a printing technique to create his infamous images. We really liked the use of colour and have been able to discuss why his work has been so well-liked.
We then began to think of adjectives to describe heroes of all kinds. We think heroes are brave, epic, and kind people that do special things to benefit others. In our art lessons, we used a printing technique to replicate Warhol’s Pop Art style. We carefully wrote our favourite adjective onto our stencil and through a meticulous and tricky process, used different colours to successfully print or hero words onto card.
We had to really concentrate as this technique involved lots of different steps. We had to be as neat as we could when it came to our stencil as this was really important for how well our print came out. We worked really sensibly in the Creativity Room and have produced some great Pop Art as a result!
Well done for your hard work, Year 2. Your art work is fantastic!
