Reception enjoyed a marvellous trip to London Zoo.
We travelled to the zoo by bus, the bus driver was so impressed with us, that he gave us a shout out on the tannoy!
When we got to the zoo, we visited the penguins. We saw them waddling along the shore and swimming through the water. Next stop; the butterfly house. Some of us even let the butterflies land on our hands.
After lunch, we went looking for the giraffes. It was so cold at the zoo, that most of the animals were hiding away. When we found the giraffe house, it was so smelly, we had to hold our noses.
Soon after, we met the Wise Men. They told us all about their camels and how to follow the star to find the baby Jesus. When we found Mary in the stable, we had to be quiet because baby Jesus was sleeping. We sang ‘Away in a manger’ to help him go back to sleep.
Finally, we met the shepherds. They made us laugh with their funny accents and lots of silly jokes.
Just before home time, we were invited into a grotto to meet Santa. He showed us how different animals all around the world are best adapted for their habitats. He also gave each of the children a small gift.
We had such a lovely day. Thank you again to all our helpers.
