Today in assembly we remembered Queen Elizabeth II. Although we are very sad that she had died, we are happy that she is now in heaven with Jesus, her husband Philip and other loved ones. May she rest in peace.
We thought about her family and how sad they must be. Every child in the school then drew a picture or wrote a special message which we submitted to Westminster to be included in their Book of Condolence. We hope that our expressions of sympathy demonstrate our care for the bereaved and support them through this time of grieving.
Following the announcement from Buckingham Palace of the death of our sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a period of National Mourning has started and will continue until the end of the State Funeral. This is a period of time for reflection in response to the death of the Sovereign.
The official date of the State Funeral is 19 September 2022. This day will be a bank holiday and the school will close on this day as a mark of respect.
