What a day Class 4 have had! We had a special visitor come in to teach us all about life in the Roman Army and in Roman Britain. We learnt all about their uniforms, and got to feel how heavy all the armour was. It must have been hard to carry it all as a soldier! We then trained with pilum (javelins) and scutum (shields) and pretended to be the Romans and the Celts in battle. The Romans could get their shields in position in 1 second; the fastest we could get into formation was 2.21 seconds which we were very proud of!
Some children got to dress up in togas and become very important, so we had to bow to them! Others had to work out how to keep warm in a Celtic home. We then compared this to the Roman homes that they built in Britain. We explored the different rooms and took part in a feast and even got to learn all about the Roman toilets!
We have learnt so much about the Romans, thank you to the SVPA for paying for our special visitor!
If you have learnt anything new from today, why don’t you put it in our blog (click here).
