As the Queen celebrated her 90th birthday this year we have held different celebratory events at school. All children were invited to enter the Rotary Club Poetry Competition to write a poem for the Queens 90th Birthday. We are very pleased that the winner of the London District was from our school and his poem has now been sent to Her Majesty. We were also very proud to have the winner of the third place prize. Well done! Thank you to John Bash form the Rotary Club who visited the school on Monday and attended our assembly, presenting trophies to the winners and certificates to all the participants. Below is the winning poem…
A Poem for H.M The Queen’s 90th Birthday
It’s your birthday today
And the whole country will play.
This day you will get a great amount of presents
And then, if you are lucky, a few little pheasants.
It’s ninety years since you were born,
Oh what a very happy dawn,
There will be ninety candles on your cake
Which took alot of hands to make.
There is great beauty in your bright blue eyes
And over the years you have had many a surprise
This is a day to celebrate
Because you make the nation great!
I wish you a very happy birthday
And many more days to come!
