Class 4 celebrated Internet Safety Day 2020 today which is a global event.
We looked at what we do already to stay safe online, for example at school we follow instructions carefully and use child-friendly search engines. We know to tell a trusted adult if we are worried or concerned about anything we see online.
As a class we discussed a variety of scenarios and decided how best to deal with these. The most important thing is to always talk to a trusted adult.
We then spoke about some important themes of this years ‘Safer Internet Day’.
We must be honest – We should always check with an adult first before going online and only use age-appropriate sites.
We must be kind – Just as we are kind to each other in school, we should be kind on the internet too.
We must be respectful – Everyone is unique and has different views and we should respect these.
We can be creative – When we use the internet sensible and safely it can be great!
After lots of class and group discussions we made some posters which we will display in our classroom to remind us how to be safer on the internet every day!
