This morning, Fiona joined us in assembly to speak to us about the wonderful Schools to Market project that we are taking part in.
This project aims to highlight the importance of knowing where your food comes from and how everyone can grow some of their own food.
As Year 2 are learning all about Food and Farming in the UK in their Geography lessons, they will be joining this project as well. They have a lot of events coming up, including:
- a vegetable growing workshop
- a visit to a pick your own farm
- designing their chutney jars and coming up with a marketing strategy
- making the chutney
They will then have a busy day in a Whole Foods Store where they will be selling their chutney to members of the public.
We can’t wait to try their chutney!
It was interesting how Fiona came today to talk about Schools to Market and it is a good thing that we grow our food .
Thank you Fiona for coming to our school to tell us about the foods to market project. I am looking forward to picking vegetables, making the chutney, tasting it and then marketing it.
I can’t wait to learn about how I can grow more vegetables
