In Year 3, we have been continuing to learn all about Rocks! We focused on learning to identify six different types of rock by using our observational skills.
We first looked closely at these mysterious rocks using all of our senses. Using magnifying glasses to help us, we were able to observe the fine details in the samples. We then used adjectives to describe their texture, appearance and colour.
We used scientific drawings to record our findings. Then, we used a grid to help us identify the different rocks we had.
We were even able to identify sandstone as soon as we saw it as it had a grainy texture with clear sand particles.
Now we can identify different types of rocks, we are looking forward to learning more about their properties!
