We’re quite messy in Year 2 and sometimes even spill food on our clothes!
So today we did an experiment to find out which laundry detergent was the best at removing stains!
We started with our question: Which detergent is the best at removing stains?
We then had four different types of laundry detergent:
- non-bio liquid detergent
- non-bio powder detergent
- bio liquid detergent
- bio powder detergent
and 3 different stains:
- coffee
- tomato
- orange juice
As a class, we designed an experiment to find out which detergent was best at removing the stains. We had to keep everything the same and only changed the detergent each time.
We found out that the liquid detergent was MUCH better at removing stains compared to the powder, and that the non-bio was better than the bio.
Well done Year 2 for being excellent Scientists!

It looked like the powder would clean better but the liquid did better.
I loved that activity it was so much fun coming up to the front and getting a turn to to stir. The part that I enjoyed most was finding out the answer. After all, mine was correct.
