In Year One, we have been very busy learning about Shapes!
We named 3D shapes including shapes of everyday objects (e.g.: baked bean tin). We had pyramid nets and cube nets and after looking at the shapes in the nets, we had to glue and experiment with putting nets together. We made lots of 3D shapes of everyday objects.
We really wanted to learn about the properties of 3D shapes so we did! We’ve been using everyday language to describe features of familiar shapes, referring to shapes with flat faces, number of faces or corners, number of sides. Because we are such experts now, we even received a letter from Queen Hex and King Agon asking us to create some shape patterns for their dull castle! They are going to pick the best one and decorate their castle walls with it!
We are so happy that we can now confidently recognise and name common 2-D and 3-D shapes. Here are some photos of us learning about shapes. Can you see which shapes we spotted on our ‘Shape Hunt’?
