As part of our preparations for Lent, today we enjoyed lots of pancakes courtesy of the wonderful St.Vincent’s Parents’ Association. Celebrated the day before Ash Wednesday, Shrove Tuesday is also known around the world as Pancake Day or Fat Tuesday, as the faithful prepare pastries to use up fat, butter and eggs ahead of the Lenten fast. We thoroughly enjoyed this lovely treat!
Shrove, from the word shrive, refers to the absolution of sins and we will be reflecting on this and the Sacarament of Reconciliation during Lent.
Please do join us tomorrow for our Ash Wednesday Service at 14:00, St. James’s Church.
