Some dinosaurs visited Reception last night! We found three footprints in the classroom – one big, one medium and one small footprint!
The children engaged in lots of size and estimating activities. Some children estimated how many of their shoes could fit in the dinosaur outline and then counted to check to see if their estimation was correct! We then decided to dip the dinosaur’s feet in paint and make our own footprints. The children stated which one was the smallest and which one was the largest.
We also made long and short snakes using playdough, measured how many cubes long our hands and feet were and made tall and small towers using lego.
We are now very confident in using mathematical language associated with size.
