This week we have started our new topic on ‘Minibeasts.’ We have been doing lots of exciting activities based around ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle. We have read the story and watched lots of videos about how a caterpillar changes into a butterfly. We have ordered the stages from an egg to a butterfly and learnt a new word, ‘cocoon.’
We have been creating our own hungry caterpillar paintings using our fingers and we have been making some large scale caterpillars and butterflies using different materials. We have also been on a minibeast hunt around the playground. In writing we wrote about caterpillars and we have started to write instructions on how to look after mini beasts.
We have had a great week of learning and we can’t wait to learn about Pond Minibeasts next week in preparation for our Minibeast trip next Friday!
