Reception had an exciting visit to the Wallace Collection this week!
We took part in the ‘Museum Explorers’ workshop where we were introduced to the Wallace Collection.
We explored three areas of the collection.
In the first room, we looked at an intriguing portrait of a member of royalty and had to find one of the crowns hidden in the painting. We learnt about the gentlemen who owned lots of the collection, his name was Sir Richard Wallace.
We then explored another painting in the largest room of the Wallace Collection. The painting was of Venice and we talked about the gondolas and beautiful blue water we could see. This reminded us of many of our summer holidays which we enjoying sharing.
Finally, we went downstairs and discovered lots of the armour that was displayed. We explored the 15th- and 16th-century armour and talked about the materials used to make it.We got to touch the armour and try some on. It was very heavy!
We had a very interesting morning of learning at the Wallace Collection in our local community.
It was an amazing morning. Trying on the armour was my favourite part of the visit.
Isabelle loved the painting of the Queen, the big stairs and everything inside.
I loved looking at all the armour. It was fun trying on the helmet and the glove.
