This week, Year 5 began their new fiction book in English – Viking Boy. As a class, they had a brilliant discussion around the front cover and the blurb. In groups, they came up with clever and detailed questions about what they could see and how they thought the narrative would unfold. Class 5 even challenged themselves to guess where the answers to their questions would be in the book by reading the names of the chapters and predicting what could happen.
“It was really fun to predict what would happen in the book based on the pictures and the blurb” – Orla.
“I predicted that even though the blurb makes it sound like the main characters parents died, there was a chapter called Father and Son so he must be alive!” – Matthias.
We are looking forward to reading this story!
