Class 4 had an exciting trip to the Natural History Museum today!
We travelled through the structure of the earth to the Earthquake and Volcano Gallery where we saw photographs, watched real footage of earthquakes and erupting volcanoes and went into the earthquake simulator!
During the earthquakes and volcanoes show, we had the opportunity to share what we already knew about the layers within our earth and how this causes the tectonic plates to move, resulting in earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. We also had the opportunity to learn so much more about these natural disasters.
We then had to help a town that lived near a volcano decide whether they should evacuate. By working out what sort of volcano they lived near and measuring the vibrations, we decided that they should evacuate and managed to save them just in time!
Class 4 are now experts in volcanoes and earthquakes! We even have a special diploma from the Natural History Museum to prove it!
