Last week the Pupil Chaplaincy Team were invited to a celebration service in Westminster Cathedral. The service was a celebration of all the hard work and commitment shown by St Vincent’s Pupil Chaplaincy Team, and many other teams from schools across Westminster.
We travelled to the Cathedral together by bus on a very warm and sunny day, and had our lunch together on the steps of the Cathedral. We were lucky to have some time to tour the Cathedral and look at all the beautiful chapels within. This was a special time for reflection and prayer for the team, before they were celebrated for all the wonderful ways they have supported the faith of our school and community.
The service was in conjunction with Caritas Westminster. As a school we have been completing Catholic Social Teaching lessons, and the Pupil Chaplaincy Team are the school ambassadors. All of the work the team has completed across the year embodies the key principles of Catholic Social Teaching:
- Dignity
- Solidarity
- The common good
- The option for the poor
- Peace
- Creation and environment
- The dignity of work and participation
The Pupil Chaplaincy Team received a certificate for their projects this year, presented to them by Bishop Paul McAleenan, the Bishop for Caritas. Cardinal Vincent was also in attendance, he began the service and blessed the schools present.
Our Pupil Chaplaincy Team received a special certificate for their hard work and we will be very proud to display this within our school.
We were so lucky to attend this celebration service, and for the Pupil Chaplaincy Team to be commended for their dedication to their role.
This was a wonderful way to celebrate all of the fantastic work our Pupil Chaplaincy Team has done over the past year. I am so proud of all of you and I am so glad we go to share this special experience together.
That looks so fun! I really like the look of the cathedral. It looks so beautiful! My cousin sang in the choir there too!
