In this week’s exciting Year 1 science lesson, the children took on the challenge of investigating objects and the everyday materials they are made from. The class was filled with energy as they worked in pairs to examine a variety of objects.

After identifying the materials, the children dove into exploring their properties. We discussed what properties are and thought of some different examples. Then the children looked at different materials and thought about how they feel and move.

The class were eager to share their ideas and observations with their partners, and the classroom buzzed with excitement as they matched materials to their properties. Some students even got creative, thinking up fun and practical ways materials are used in their daily lives.

It was a fantastic, hands-on session where Year 1 not only deepened their understanding of materials but also worked together, building teamwork skills along the way.

Everyone left the lesson with new insights into the world of science and a whole new appreciation for the materials all around them!
