On Monday Year 1 were extremely lucky and had the opportunity to go on a trip to the Science Museum to visit their exploring Space exhibition as a part of our History topic of Explorers!

After a very wet and windy journey to the Science Museum we began our day in the exploring space exhibition. It was filled with amazing replicas of rockets satellites and landers which had actually been to space! The children were amazed to even see a ‘piece of the moon’ and the food and drinks which explorers and astronauts have when in space. This trip was a brilliant starting point for us as we had the chance to view the difference between exploring space in the past and exploring space now, something that we will be looking at within our history lessons over the next few weeks.

After the exhibition we went and had lunch, this was an exciting time as it was our first opportunity to sit down, the children enjoyed their lunches and had a very well deserved rest. Once we had finished with lunch we broke off into our groups to explore the science Museum further, some of us looked at medicine and the body, others looked at mechanics, machinery and robots. We then regrouped and made the very wet journey back to school!

Overall, Year 1 had a fantastic day and learnt many interesting facts which will support us in our history lessons over the next term. Well done Year 1 you were brilliant and thank you so much to all of the adults who helped and made this trip possible!
