Year 2 had a wonderful art morning led by Guy and Patrick’s mum where we got to learn and practise some new art skills. We looked at the artist Jasper Johns who created abstract art by layering different numbers and letters on top of each other. We used oil pastels and stencils to draw out our letters, making sure our final letter was on top so that we could clearly see it.
Our next step was to mix our own colours to paint it. We learnt the difference between warm and cool colours, and how cool colours are used to make objects look smaller and further away. So we mixed 8 warm colours for our main letter, and then 8 cool colours for our background.
They look amazing – thank you to all the parents who helped us. Can you guess which word we were spelling out?
