Today Year 2 had a special visitor from Urbanwise London, who taught us all about maps. We looked at different types of maps, including satellite ones and some from many years ago. We learnt to spot the symbols and thought about what they represent.
We then when outside to look for these signs in real life. We started in Paddington Street Gardens where we made a different kind of map – a sound map. Then we walked up to Regents Park where we learnt about the different compass points and what we could find on a map of Regents Park. Our final activity was making our own maps using leaves and sticks of an area we knew well. We used the leaves, sticks and stones to represent different parts of our maps.
