This week, we have been learning about the Jewish faith. We learnt all about the synagogue, the place that Jewish people meet to worship and study God.
On Wednesday, we were able to take part in a online workshop with The Jewish Museum. They taught us all about many of the sacred objects and the synagogue. By looking at many pictures we found out that within Jewish art there are no pictures of God, this is because Jews believe that God does not have a body and that they shouldn’t worship a person. In fact, most of the art seen in stained glass windows and synagogues are about the Torah and the land of Israel.
We also learnt that men wear a small cap called a Kippah when praying and attending the synagogue. Although people can wear plain coloured Kippahs more recently people have used them to show off their identity. Year 3 loved being able to deign their own!
Throughout the workshop we were able to contribute ideas and ask questions, we had lots of fun!
