This week Year 4 had the privilege of visiting Lambeth Palace for the Wintershall Advent Traveling Crib.
This workshop gave us the opportunity to dig deeper into the Christmas story. We met Mary as she got ready for her baby, a shepherd left to look after his sheep, a donkey travelling for the census, Zachariah who worked in the temple, a wise man preparing for the journey and Elizabeth who had a message from the angel.
We were so excited as we were given a pilgrim bag for our journey. We gathered an item from each person that we met along the way such as a crib to remind us to Jesus’ birth, gold to remind us to the Wise Men’s journey, a feather to remind us of the angels’ message and some of the sheep’s wool to remind us of the shepherds.. We really appreciated how interactive this event was, as we were able to talk with each actor portraying a person from Advent. We learned so much and had such a lovely time! Thank you so much to the SVPA for funding this trip and Wintershall for inviting us to such a special journey to Bethlehem!
We will carry on this message and tell as many people about our travels as possible. We are so excited to continue travelling to Bethlehem in our hearts as we prepare during Advent for the birth of Jesus at Christmas.
Year 4 has so much fun on the way home playing with the autumn leaves! There were so many we were knee deep!
What was your favourite part of the travelling crib?
Alexandra cannot wait to go on this trip. Beautiful photos. The children had a lot of fun on this biblical journey!
My favourite part was the sheep because I liked the smell the smell of their wool and they were soft.
My favourite part was the sheep because it very funny when the sheep were chasing each other and then all the other sheep ran and I even laughed as so as everyone else and also I liked the wool and it was so soft like a pillow.

What was your favourite part of the travelling crib?
My favourite part of the travelling crib was when we went to see Mary because she explained really well as if she really was Mary.
The animals were so cute! There were a lot of amazing facts about Mary, Jesus and God.
Y4, your trip was greatππ
