On Tuesday the red carpet was rolled out in front of the Wallace Collection for the spectacular Year 5 Film Premiere.

Year 5 had the privilege of having the Wallace Collection theatre room all to themselves so they could show their films to their parents on the big screen!

As well as learning all about the history of film and photography (and what entertainment was like before all of that!) Year 5 have been working very hard this term to create their films. They wrote their scripts, filled in job applications and worked as a team to film and edit their chosen films.

Please have a look at the photos below of our fabulous Year 5 movie stars.

Look out for our three films which will soon be shown on the school website!

Film ‘Lights Out’

‘This film is not really a true story but we thought we would add that to the start to make it even more scary!

It is about a family who try to escape from a spooky vampire. The ending is very surprising and quite terrifying as a secret is revealed to the main character as well as the audience. It was challenging to manage the actors and I was responsible for encouraging everyone to carry out their role. I was very happy to have an Assistant Director because otherwise I would have found it impossible to lead the team on my own!”

SF (Director)

“I wrote the film script and although some parts did not go to plan, it was exactly as I envisioned it and I am super proud of my team for bringing the script to life!”

JC (Script-writer & Assistant Editor)

Film ‘Pixie Dust’

“This film is all about Pixies and Fairies who play tricks on each other and have been enemies for a long time without even knowing why. This all changes when a kind goblin plays a cunning prank on both groups… It was so much fun to work with my group especially as I had never worked with them before. It made us all close friends and I am really proud of the way they listened to and supported each other.”

NW (Director)

“When I wrote this script, I did not imagine that it would turn out to be such a funny film. I am happy about this because the audience thoroughly enjoyed it. I am proud of my group because we worked together to solve problems (such as learning new lines at short notice) and had great fun together.”

CPL (Script-writer and Assistant Director)

Film: ‘Changes’

“I always had faith in my team and I was very pleased with how it turned out. Directing people is tougher than it looks! I had to encourage them and help them with their roles.”

HA (Director)

“This film is about a young boy who wishes he was older. When his wish comes true he realises that actually being a kid is not too bad after all. Although we made some mistakes, I am very pleased with the way it turned out and we all worked as a team. This made us closer and we realised that every member of our team had a hidden talent which we all tried to bring out in them.”

JN (Script-writer and Actress)
