We’ve had a great Enterprise Week in Year 6. We voted to make Hama Bead creations (which has become a bit of a Year 6 tradition!) and we’re glad we did because they were very popular again!
We started by thinking of names for our company and then voting for our favourite one. The winner was ‘Hama Heaven.’ Well done to Isabella for her winning idea. (Well done too to Jacob as Reception liked his idea ‘KFK-Keyrings For Kids’ so much that they borrowed it!)
Then we had great fun, designing company logos and then voting for our favourite one. Well done to Camila for her winning design.
Next, it was time to practice using persuasive language to write an advert for our product. We learnt about superlatives, alliteration and rhetorical questions and then wrote ideas for catchy slogans to persuade others to buy our products. We all shared our best slogans in the class advert which was filmed and shown to the other classes in assembly.
Our advert must have been very persuasive because we had over eighty orders from the other classes -it was so exciting, watching the number of orders going up live on Google Classroom! All of Year 6 also ordered one so we had a busy few days making our products. Many thanks to all of the parents who came in to help us with this. We have learnt so much this week about what it’s like to set up and run a business and what it’s like to do paid work!
We also had four parent visitors who taught us more about the world of work by telling us what it’s like to work in Digital assets, hospitality, sales and as a theatre producer. Many thanks to them all for giving up their time to speak to us and answer our questions; we really appreciate it.
We have been learning more about democracy through voting for every decision throughout the process and then agreeing to the decision voted for by the majority of the class. We have also been using all of our learning powers throughout the week.
After we had paid back the £30 that Miss Coleman gave us (which was spent on Hama Beads, boards and pipe cleaners) we ended up with a profit of £84. We will vote on what to buy with the money that we earned once everyone has had a chance to make suggestions.
Please make your suggestions in the comments, Year 6, and then we can make our orders after half term.
