Today saw the launch of Anti-Bullying Week with a wonderful Odd Socks Day. Odd Socks Day spreads the message of individuality, acceptance and tolerance. It celebrates that everyone is different and unique.
We joined in with the Anti-Bullying Week assembly, hosted by Andy and the Odd Socks with some celebrity guests. It’s here if you want to watch it again:
Andy and the Odd Socks wrote a very catchy song that celebrates us all being united against bullying. Maybe you can try and write your own song to promote the messages from Anti-Bullying Week?
In class, children spoke about the odd socks they were wearing and why they chose them. They then all got to design their own odd socks to celebrate the things about themselves that make them special.
This year’s theme for Anti-Bullying is being united against bullying. This year, more than ever, we’ve witnessed the positive power that society can have when we come together to tackle a common challenge. Anti-Bullying Week is no different. Bullying has a long lasting effect on those who experience and witness it. But by channelling our collective power, through shared efforts and shared ambitions, we can reduce bullying together. From parents and carers, to teachers and politicians, to children and young people, we all have a part to play in coming together to make a difference. We’re all a piece in the puzzle, and together, we’re united against bullying.
We are looking forward to doing more activities throughout the week to celebrate everyone being unique and valued, and to make sure that we have a part to play against bullying.
Cool! I loved putting my own odd socks to school today. And I absolutely loved designing my odd sock. The assembly was also great. I loved everything especially as it is the beginning of Anti – bullying week!
Today was very fun I loved wearing odd socks ! I also enjoyed designing my socks today 😝 . The video was very fun . I can’t wait for the rest of the week 🙃😆.
