In Reception this half term, we have been learning all about Traditional Tales. We have enjoyed learning about ‘The Gingerbread Man,’ ‘Little Red Riding Hood,’ and ‘Cinderella!’
As our topic comes to an end, we decided to plan a party in class for Cinderella to attend.
During our Literacy lesson, Cinderella wrote a letter to us and told us she was feeling a bit sad in the palace because she didn’t have many friends. We each wrote a letter back to Cinderella asking her if she would like to come to our party. We used our phonic knowledge to sound out and write our own sentences.
We then planned and shared our own ideas of what we would like to do at the party and made a list of the things we would need.
On the day of the party, we arrived at school and Cinderella had delivered some of her things from the palace, including some of her and the prince’s clothes for us to dress up in. The party was a success! We enjoyed playing party games, making picture frames, eating a delicious picnic and dancing with Cinderella! It was wonderful to meet Cinderella! We were able to ask her our own questions and find out more about Cinderella, the prince and life at the palace.
We had lots of fun together and it was a great way to bring our class topic to life!
You guys look like you had an amazing time at your Cinderella party!!!
I loved our Cinderella Day. It was so much fun. My favourite bit was when I played musical bumps with Cinderella!
Also I loved the bit when Cinderella first arrived because I had been waiting for her to arrive and I was so excited!
Thank you Cinderella for coming to our classroom.
