Year 2 have been very lucky to have worked with the Schools to Market Project this year. To prepare for our selling day at Whole Foods led by our Green Team, we had to make our chutney and our labels for our product. Our first job was to come up with the name for our chutney. It was a spiced rhubarb and strawberry chutney, made from the finest ingredients that we picked at Crockbridge Farm. After our marketing workshop with Rachel from School Food Matters, we knew that we should use colourful designs and also ensure to include a list of ingredients so that customers knew exactly what to expect.
For our Creativity Afternoon, Mrs Knowler and Green Team led the making session, where they worked to cut, chop and dice all of the ingredients and then began the cooking process. We were very fortunate to have our parents and adults from home come along to school to help us with this. Half of the class were in the classroom and worked to create our colourful and fun labels, incorporating our choice of name, Year 2’s Cheeky Chutney! Again, we had some members of Green Team come along to help us with this and they also helped Miss Forster Adams by taking on the role of photographer!
We would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Knowler, Green Team, our parents, and the Year 2 team for all of their help and support with this project. We’ve had a fantastic time!
This end of topic celebration was a lot of fun! Creating the labels for the chutney was tricky at first, then I had a cool idea. I hope we can do this again in year 3!
