In our Fitness lesson this week, we have been learning about co-ordination and how it helps us to in everyday life.
To warm up we discussed what fitness means and the different areas we work on in fitness balance, co-ordination, strength, flexibility, speed, agility and stamina.
We then played walk the plank by balancing on a rope and trying to walk across the rope without touching the floor and then trying to do the same backwards before jogging to a new rope. The children then practised skipping and trying to beat their number of skips each time.
After this, we played some co-ordination challenges using beans bags by trying to throw and catch a bean bag while walking on the rope, trying to catch it with one hand and trying to catch it with one hand while walking backwards. Next, the children worked with a partner to use their dominant and non-dominant hands to throw and catch the bean bags as many times as they could. To make this more challenging we switched to using a tennis ball instead of a bean bag!
At the end of the lesson we took part in running some laps to help develop our stamina and prepare for Sports Day in a few weeks time!
What did you enjoy doing in our P.E. lesson this week?
I really liked throwing and catching the bean bag.
