Our new topic this term is Mini-Beasts!
We have explored our new topic in many ways, and in lots of different lessons.
During our Understanding the World sessions, we sat in groups together and looked at lots of different pictures of mini-beasts. First looked at the picture and checked to see if anyone knew what this mini-beast was, and if they could share any information about this mini-beast with their friends. Everyone had lots of turns at choosing a different picture to look at, and the group shared lots of amazing knowledge about the mini-beasts that they have already learnt.
We have been combining all of our new mini-beast knowledge through art, during our expressive arts and design sessions. Each child has been creating and decorating their own mini-beasts, learning and remembering the right amount of eyes, legs and wings their mini-beasts needs! In addition to this, we have been creating some beautiful butterflies! We have painted one side of our butterfly, and pressing the wings together. This creates a symmetrical pattern on both wings, as really butterflies have! This also was a great lesson about what symmetrical means, and how we can create amazing patterns!
This has been such a fan and busy week learning all about mini-beasts. I am looking forward to all of the wonderful ways we can continue to learn and be creative during this topic.
I hope you had a fun time!
