To support our book of the week, The Three Little Pigs, we have been thinking about the little pigs houses!
As we are learning the story, we are also learning a special song that talks all about the materials the pigs built their houses with. We looked at some straw and some sticks, we pretended we were the big bad wolf and saw how easy they were to blow away!
We then thought about what the third little pigs house was made from, as the big bad wolf could not blow it away – bricks! We talked about how our school and our houses are made from bricks, they are very strong and cannot be blown away. We also talked about what would happen to the straw and sticks if it started to rain, they would fall down!
After this each child had their own sheet with the three little pigs houses on, they were able to stick down the straw and ‘sticks’ onto the houses, and draw the super strong bricks. This was a fantastic way to explore our book of the week in a different way, whilst also learning about the different materials in the story and in the world around us.
