This week, Chloe from Mini First Aid came in to remind us of how to look after those around us.
We started by learning how to put pressure on a cut or a bleed, before applying a plaster. We spent time practising this with Teddy, showing him lots of care and attention, whilst looking after him. Later, we learnt about the importance of bumped heads. We know all about how serious a bumped head can be, and that we should ask questions to check how the person is feeling. If it is less serious, we know how to apply ice packs to somebody when they have hit their head.
If somebody has a more serious fall, we know about how to respond to an emergency. If somebody cannot answer questions, or is not responding, we know that we need to ring 999 straight away. We practiced ringing this number, and asking the operator for the ambulance service. We also learnt that we need to know our home address in case of an emergency. This is really important because it means that the paramedics can help us as quickly as possible.
We would like to say a massive thank you to SVPA and Miss Siswick for organising this for us. We learnt so much!
