Today, a group of us went to represent St. Vincent’s at a boys’ football competition at Paddington Recreation Ground.
Once we arrived at the ground, we decided to warm up. We were very lucky to have a very helpful parent with us who helped to lead this, as well as to strategize our game-plan. We discussed the different positions we’d be playing in and thought of our strengths and weaknesses.
We were very keen to get started! Once we knew which group we would be playing in, we started some shooting practice as well as passing.
In our first game, we won an impressive 3-0! We were so pleased with our efforts. In our second game, we lost 2-0, which was a big shame but we tried our hardest. Our third and final game of the group stages was a real nail-biter. We were 1-0 down, until R came through with an amazing equaliser. This meant that we made it through to the quarter finals! We were overjoyed.
In this game, we were disappointed to lose but we were proud of how we played, and shook hands with the other players. By this point, it was very rainy so unfortunately, there were no playoffs or friendlies.
Well done to those of you that came along to represent our school today. You all played brilliantly, showed such determination and great sportsmanship, and should be very proud of yourselves!
